The first edition of the Bachpan Cohort Study Newsletter was published in March 2022 and is available in both Urdu and English. The newsletter will be shared with mother-child dyads during their upcoming interviews and will be a point of discussion between the Lady Health Workers and families. STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
An MoU between the Ministry of Health and Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU) was signed on March 9, 2022 during a hybrid signing ceremony and seminar, titled "Reimagining Public Health Practice and Research for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Islamabad, Pakistan. The MoU outlines the collaboration of the signatories to further the agenda of UHC in the country. The event was attended by top healthcare leaders from across the country in person and online. Dr. Syed Usman Hamdani, Founding Director of the Global Institute of Health Development (GIHD) shared his thoughts on the research undertakings of the institute, and their impact on policy. He also discussed the Bachpan Cohort, Thinking Healthy Program and its impact across the life course.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
As part of the Columbia University Seminar Series on Global Mental Health, Dr. Sikander discussed maternal depression as a global health priority and highlighted the ongoing research that bridges the gap for maternal depression in low resource settings. The full talk is available here.
